Foundation of Russian-U.S. cooperation that took decades to build destroyed over several years - Putin
ST. PETERSBURG. June 2 (Interfax) - The foundation of Russian-U.S. cooperation, which took decades to build, was destroyed in the past few years, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
"One has to say that the foundation of mutual cooperation, which was formed in the course of the past decades, was de facto destroyed in the course of the past few years," he said at the Russia-U.S. business dialogue on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
Russian-U.S. bilateral relations have arrived at the lowest point since the times of the Cold War, which could not help but reflect on Russian-U.S. economic cooperation, the Russian president said.
At the same time, he said both countries, while remaining influential world powers, continue dialogue in various international formats such as the United Nations, G20, and APEC, he said.
"No doubt, it is unavoidable, and, thank God, this process continues," he said.
