ECHR made no decision on admissibility of Ukraine's complaints against Russia - Russian Justice Ministry
MOSCOW. June 3 (Interfax) - The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) did not inform the Russian Justice Ministry of whether it has found Ukraine's first lawsuit against Russia over its actions in Crimea to be admissible, the Russian Justice Ministry said.
"As of June 2 the ECHR did not make any decision on the admissibility of the complaints Ukraine lodged against Russia," the ministry said in a statement obtained by Interfax on Friday.
On May 11 the ECHR "only notified Russia of having received a position from the Ukrainian authorities and compelled them to additionally provide a translation of the documents they sent," the statement says.
"This procedure is a standard form of exchange of positions between parties," the statement says.
"The Russian authorities will provide their position to the ECHR in case of receiving relevant instructions," the ministry said.
On Thursday Ukrainian Justice Minister Pavlo Petrenko said that the ECHR had found Ukraine's first lawsuit against Russia over its actions in Crimea in 2014 to be admissible, in particular with respect to instances of human rights violation on the peninsula.
