Kazakhstan to thoroughly consider extending contracts with China in energy sector - Nazarbayev
ASTANA. June 8 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan will thoroughly consider the issue of extending contracts with Chinese companies in the energy sector, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev said.
"The main thing is that we've talked over the issue of energy cooperation. Chinese companies that account for 25% of the oil produced in Kazakhstan are raising the issue of extending contracts. We will thoroughly consider that, because they are good partners in our joint work," Nazarbayev said during the talks with Chinese President China Xi Jinping on Thursday in Astana.
"Over the years of joint work, more than 100 million tonnes of oil have been delivered via Kazakhstan and more than 180 billion cubic meters of gas. We are moving 51 enterprises to Kazakhstan, as agreed. Three have already started working and six are coming next, the work continues," the president said.
He noted that Kazakhstan and China have developed "exemplary relations."
"We have no unresolved issues, any issues that arise are resolved immediately. China has become Kazakhstan's main partner in the economy in terms of foreign direct investment, loans, and joint ventures," Nazarbayev said.
