There was no excessive use of force against Navalny's supporters at rallies - Federation Council committee
MOSCOW. June 13 (Interfax) - The Federation Council's international affairs committee has described measures used against supporters of opposition activist Alexei Navalny during the Russia Day celebrations as mild and lawful.
"Even when Russia Day had been celebrated and the people had rejoiced and participated in celebrations, a bunch of Navalny's supporters tried to cast a shadow over this holiday. And when, in my opinion, completely mild and lawful measures were used against them so that they wouldn't interfere with people celebrating, the West immediately urged us to pay attention to the excessive use of force," the committee's first deputy chairman Vladimir Dzhabarov said at a meeting on Tuesday.
