Plane breakdown thwarts U.S.-Ukrainian Open Skies mission in Russia - media

MOSCOW. June 23 (Interfax) - U.S. and Ukrainian inspectors failed to perform an observation flight in Russia as their plane broke down, the Russian Defense Ministry's Krasnaya Zvezda newspaper said on Friday.

"The United States has cancelled the observation flight of the joint U.S.-Ukrainian mission in Russia aboard a U.S. OC-135B plane due to the latter's non-serviceability," the report said.

The mission was scheduled for June 19-24 under the Open Skies Treaty, head of the Russian Nuclear Threat Reduction Center Sergei Ryzhkov said.
