Tbilisi reiterates demand that Sukhum extradite border guard who shot Georgian citizen

TBILISI. June 28 (Interfax) - Another working meeting with participation of representatives of Tbilisi and Sukhum as part of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) took place in Gali on Wednesday.

During the meeting, the Georgian side reiterated its demand for the detention and extradition of Abkhazian border guard Rashid Kandzhy-ogly, who killed Georgian citizen Gigi Otkhozoria in the near-border village of Khurcha, Zugdidi district, in May 2017, Kakhaber Kemoklidze, the deputy head of the Georgian State Security Service's analytical department, told reporters.

The Abkhazian side "still has not shown political will" and refuses to extradite Kandzhy-ogly, he said.

At the meeting, the Georgian side also raised the issue of releasing two Georgian citizens detained in April.
