China, India, Algeria, Vietnam and Indonesia to remain top importers of Russian-made military aircraft until 2025 - UAC

MOSCOW. June 30 (Interfax-AVN) - It is necessary to bring the fifth generation of Russian aircraft and Russian-made drones into the external market until 2025, the United Aircraft Corporation, or UAC , said.

"Top military equipment pieces that will be in demand on the external market for the period until 2020-2025 will include the 4++ generation of fighter jets like the [Sukhoi] Su-35, Su-30 and [Mikoyan] MiG-29 planes and the [Yakovlev] Yak-130 [NATO reporting name: Mitten] advanced training and transport aircraft. In order to expand existing positions [on the market], it is essential to bring the fifth generation of aviation systems and also unmanned aerial systems to the external market," UAC said in its annual report.

China, India, Algeria, Vietnam and Indonesia will remain the largest importers of Russian-made military-type aircraft during the period, the company said in the report.

"The nations of the Middle East, South East Asia and Latin America are also potential buyers of Russian military aircraft," it said.

In order to improve competitiveness of advanced aircraft on international markets, UAC is performing a number of contracts in conformity with intergovernmental agreements and implementing, jointly with foreign customers, a number of programs for development and manufacture of the next generation of aerial systems, according to the report.

"However, in recent years, the promotion of exports of combat aircraft systems has been deterred by a number of foreign policy factors, mostly by those related to the sanctions that Western nations introduced against companies in the Russian defense industry amid the Ukrainian events," UAC said.
