Peskov calls first brief contact between Merkel, Putin at G20 summit wonderful

MOSCOW. July 7 (Interfax) - The brief contact between Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel at the welcome ceremony for the G20 heads of state was a good one, Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.

"It was a wonderful contact; Merkel is the genial host of this event, she greeted Putin and they began a retreat session together with other chiefs of state and government," Peskov said.

Putin and Merkel exchanged a few words while Merkel was greeting the arriving heads of foreign delegations.
