Roscosmos chief Komarov inspects Vostochny Cosmodrome construction

VOSTOCHNY COSMODROME. July 11 (Interfax-AVN) - A number of space launch vehicles should be delivered to the Vostochny Cosmodrome in August and September, and spacecraft will be delivered there later, Roscosmos chief Igor Komarov said.

On Tuesday, Komarov inspected the construction at the cosmodrome and hosted a conference to discuss the upcoming launches and the level of the space center's preparedness for receiving launch vehicles and spacecraft.

"Significant changes have occurred over the past month. The number of workers has grown, and what inspires optimism is that we have achieved higher indicators than it was planned originally. It can already be said definitely that all financing issues have been resolved. The Ground Space Infrastructure Operation Center has also established control over all procurements of equipment and materials necessary for completing the work on first-phase facilities," Komarov said.

It is planned that the number of workers from the Ground Space Infrastructure Operation Center at these facilities should be about 600, while in reality there are 100 more of them, Komarov said. In all, about 1,500 construction workers are working at the Vostochny Cosmodrome.
