Iskanders strike simulated enemy's command post at snap exercise in Tajikistan
DUSHANBE. July 22 (Interfax) - Crews of the Iskander-M tactical ballistic missile systems have delivered strikes at a command post and a factory manufacturing explosive devices via electronic launches at the distance of 260 kilometers during the final stage of a snap combat readiness check, which had been conducted jointly with the Tajik Defense Ministry under an integrated plan in the common operational environment, Yaroslav Roschupkin, assistant commander of the Central Military District Troops told Interfax.
"The Tajik Armed Forces' officers participated in preparing data for firing exercises. Missile units were put on alert, marched to the launching area and performed standards in changing the systems over from the travel position to the firing one. According to the commands of both parties, units of the Russian and the Tajik armed forces displayed ability to perform training and combat objectives together during the snap combat readiness check launched in the past week and involving over 3,000 servicemen," he said.
The Iskander M tactical ballistic missile system is capable of delivering highly precise strikes at targets at the distance up to 500 kilometers and intended for destroying the enemy's most important facilities.
