Donbas doesn't accept idea of introducing peacekeepers in this region
MOSCOW. July 24 (Interfax) - Donetsk and Luhansk oppose the introduction of the UN peacekeeping mission to this region.
"Any peacekeepers are out of the question. Additional people with weapons are not needed here," self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic special envoy Vladislav Deinego told Interfax.
In turn, the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic Council of Ministers recalled the Minsk Package of Measures, which stipulates the demilitarization of the region.
"The Package of Measures clearly stipulates that there should be no foreigners with weapons in Donbas, because any armed mission is at odds with the Package of Measures," the DPR Council of Ministers representative said.
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has earlier suggested the introduction of UN peacekeepers to Donbas at the phone talks of the Normandy Four leaders.
