Tillerson conditions U.S.-North Korea dialogue on end of Pyongyang's missile launches
MANILA. Aug 7 (Interfax) - The end of North Korean missile launches is a condition for starting negotiations between Pyongyang and the United States, U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said.
The best message that can signal North Korea's readiness for negotiations is the end of missile launches, Tillerson said reporters in Manila, where he travelled to participate in a security conference.
The White House reported a phone call between U.S. President Donald Trump and South Korean President Moon Jae-in on Monday. The presidents agreed that pressure on North Korea should be stepped up to encourage Pyongyang to stop its missile and nuclear program.
The leaders agreed that North Korea constituted a growing direct threat to the United States, South Korea, Japan and a majority of other countries, the White House said.
