Ferrous metals shipments on Russian railways up 3.8%, coal 10.7% in 7M

MOSCOW. Aug 9 (Interfax) - The Russian Railways (RZD) network carried 48.98 million tonnes of ferrous metals in January-July, 3.8% more than in the same period of last year, the company said in materials seen by Interfax.

Domestic shipments were up 3.9% year-on-year to 26.12 million tonnes.

International shipments grew 3.7% to 22.86 million tonnes. Shipments via ports declined 2.9% to 15.05 million tonnes and shipments via border crossings rose 19.2% to 7.81 million tonnes.

Exports shipments declined 1.3% to 19.13 million tonnes and imports jumped 54.7% to 2.93 million tonnes. Transit shipments were up 3.1% to 0.8 million tonnes.

Coal shipments rose 10.7% year-on-year in January-July to 226.697 million tonnes. Domestic shipments were almost unchanged at 96.659 million tonnes. International shipments rose 19.8% to 130.04 million tonnes.

Imports grew 14.5% to 15.152 million tonnes and exports were up 19.4% to 111.54 million tonnes.
