Russian, Chinese diplomats discuss situation on Korean Peninsula in Pyongyang

MOSCOW. Aug 21 (Interfax) - Co-chairs of the Russian-Chinese Dialogue on Security in Northeast Asia, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov and Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Kong Xuanyou, held a meeting in Beijing.

An exchange of views on the situation on the Korean Peninsula and Northeast Asia in general took place. Both parties emphasized the need to increase collective political and diplomatic efforts for the benefit of de-escalating tensions and launching the process of the general military and political reduction of tensions in Northeast Asia, which would facilitate creating favorable conditions for settling the Korean Peninsula's nuclear issue and others, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
