Military officials from CSTO states to discuss coalition troop interaction in Minsk

MINSK. Aug 23 (Interfax-AVN) - A working meeting of heads of main operations departments (strategic planning departments) of General Staffs of the armed forces of CSTO member-states will discuss issues of the use of the Collective Rapid Reaction Force in Minsk on August 23-24, the Belarusian Defense Ministry reported.

"There will be working meetings of representatives of the Armed Forces of Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan chaired by deputy chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Belarus - chief of the main operations department Maj. Gen. Pavel Muraveiko, where problems of coalition military development in the CSTO format will be discussed," a statement posted on the ministry's official website says.

The key issues of the meetings will be the use of the CSTO Collective Rapid Reaction Force, the organization of control and all-round supply provisions for it.

The Defense Ministry said that the event is being held in such a format for the first time at the initiative of Belarus, which holds the rotating CSTO presidency this year.
