Fourteen Kazakh citizens evacuated from combat zone in Iraq - Astana

ASTANA. Aug 25 (Interfax) - Fourteen citizens of Kazakhstan, including ten children, have been evacuated from the combat zone in Iraq, Kazakh Foreign Ministry spokesman Anuar Zhainakov said on Facebook on Friday.

"We have learned about the evacuation of 14 Kazakh citizens, one man, three women and ten children, from the combat zone in Iraq," Zhainakov said.

"They are staying in Iraq while their further evacuation is being prepared. Our diplomats stationed at the Kazakh embassy to Jordan are dealing with the case," he said.

The 14 Kazakh citizens include six persons mentioned by Chechnya head Ramzan Kadyrov on Thursday, Zhainakov said.

According to Kadyrov, six citizens of Russia and six of Kazakhstan have been saved from militants in Iraqi Kurdistan.

"Another stage of a major humanitarian operation aimed to rescue citizens of Russia and CIS countries has come to an end in Iraqi Kurdistan. I assigned representative of the Chechen republic head to the Middle East and North Africa, senator Ziyad Sabsabi to organize it. Twelve persons, including six citizens of Russia and six of Kazakhstan, were freed in Tal Afar and taken to a safe place as a result," Kadyrov said on Instagram on Thursday.
