S. Ossetia working with European, Asian, American countries to secure its recognition - FM

MOSCOW. Aug 25 (Interfax) - South Ossetia will seek recognition of its independence by other countries and is carrying out diplomatic work in Europe, Asia and the Americas for that purpose, South Ossetian Foreign Minister Dmitry Medoyev said.

"The main task set is, of course, to broaden the geography of countries that could recognize the independence of South Ossetia," Medoyev said via a video linkup with Sukhum and Tskhinval in Moscow organized to mark the ninth anniversary of Russia's recognition of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

Relevant work "is also being done on the countries of Europe, on the Asian track and, naturally, on the track of both American continents," he said.
