Russia welcomes building bridges between various political forces involved in intra-Syrian conflict - Foreign Ministry
MOSCOW. Aug 25 (Interfax) - The Russian president's special representative for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov and leader of the Syrian opposition's Building the Syrian State movement Louay Hussain have discussed the role of Syrian civil society in the settlement of the situation in the Syrian Arab Republic.
"During the conversation, the parties exchanged views on the development of the situation in Syria and surrounding it with an emphasis on the lack of alternatives to the political settlement of the Syrian crisis on the basis of the United Nations Security Council's resolution 2254," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on its website.
"The Russian side welcomed the efforts of Syrian civil society in facilitating normalization of the situation on the ground, building bridges of mutual understanding between various political forces involved in the intra-Syrian conflict," it said.
