Ruble swings up as dollar falls on Forex market

MOSCOW. Aug 25 (Interfax) - The ruble is swinging up against the dollar, which is falling on the international Forex market following Federal Reserve head Janet Yellen's speech at the Jackson Hole symposium.

However the ruble is down slightly against the euro in evening trading on the Moscow Exchange .

The dollar was down 33.75 kopecks at 59.15 rubles/$1 by 7:00 p.m. and the euro was up 3.3 kopecks at 69.87 rubles/EUR1. The bi-currency basket ($0.55 and EUR0.45) fell 17.1 kopecks to 63.79 rubles.

As the result of this morning's index session, the Central Bank raised its official dollar rate for the weekend and Monday by a mere 0.79 kopecks to 59.1476 rubles/$1 but lowered its euro rate by 3.39 kopecks to 69.6995 rubles/EUR1.

The dollar averaged down 4.4 kopecks to 59.1005 rubles/$1 in Today deals on the Moscow Exchange and, by 8:05 p.m., was down 14.01 kopecks to 59.0248 rubles/$1 in Tom deals. Overall trading volume was $3.773 billion, of which $960.935 million Today and $2.812 billion Tom.

The euro averaged down 3.9 kopecks in Today deals to 69.691 rubles/EUR1 but was up 3 kopecks in Tom deals to 69.8058 rubles/EUR1 in volume of EUR494.716 million, of which EUR284.152 million Today and EUR210.564 million Tom.

The MosPrime rate for overnight loans rose 3 basis points to 8.73% pa.
