U.S. ambassador in Moscow expects Tillerson, Lavrov to meet at UN General Assembly session
MOSCOW. Aug 28 (Interfax) - U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov are likely to meet on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly's session in New York in September but there is no concrete agreement to the effect so far, U. S. Ambassador to Russia John Tefft said on the Ekho Moskvy radio.
The ambassador denied preparations for that meeting and said that the date and time of possible contacts had not been discussed. He added he was expecting that to happen sooner or later.
As to whether new contacts between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin were being prepared, Tefft said he knew nothing about possible preparations for a phone call.
