Poultry farming continues to post highest production growth rates on Russian meat market - Rosstat
MOSCOW. August 30 (Interfax) - Poultry farming continued to post the highest rates of production growth on Russia's meat market in July.
Russia's Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) reported on Wednesday that poultry production in live weight grew 15.7% year-on-year to 517,500 tonnes in July 2017.
Hog production increased 6.5% to 306,800 tonnes. Cattle production, which has been on the decline recently, grew only by 0.2% to 69,300 tonnes in July.
Poultry farming has led growth on Russia's meat market for the past seven months. Production in the sector has grown 6.8%. Hog farming grew 5.7% during this time while cattle production grew 0.8%.
