Russian trade mission staff in Washington to continue working at embassy, no one fired

WASHINGTON. Sept 2 (Interfax) - The staff at the Russian trade mission in Washington were not dismissed, they will continue their work at the Russian Embassy to the United States, the Embassy's press secretary Nikolai Lakhonin told Interfax on Saturday.

"They will be working, no one dismissed them. They came here to work. The trade mission continues working," he said.

Last Thursday Washington announced its response to the reduction of its diplomatic staff in Russia: the U.S. decided to close the Russian consulate general in San Francisco and access to the buildings of the trade mission in Washington and its outpost in New York.
