Sobyanin calls municipal elections competitive, fair
MOSCOW. Sept 11 (Interfax) - The municipal elections in Moscow were competitive and fair, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said.
"There were five candidates for each seat. United Russia received over 75 mandates in total; nevertheless, the political landscape of district councils has become more diverse," Sobyanin wrote on his Vkontakte page on Monday.
The Moscow mayor said he hopes municipal deputies will work more actively on resolving specific problems of residents.
"I congratulate all elected deputies on their victories, regardless of their political views. I wish them success," Sobyanin said.
