Lebanon counts on Russia's support in getting financing for its development, Syria's restoration - Hariri
MOSCOW. Sept 13 (Interfax) - Lebanon may become an infrastructural center for the restoration of Syria and expects to engage Russian companies in this, Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri said.
"We want Lebanon to become a hub for Syria's reconstruction and development. Investments in Lebanon would only increase the chances for Syria's restoration," Hariri said in an interview shown on the Rossiya-24 (VGTRK) television channel.
"We have publicized a plan for the country's development. It's a huge project that involves developing the infrastructure, the electric power industry, and the water supply and ensuring security. The amount of capital investment is about $416 billion. We hope for the Russian government's endorsement and support and are trying to get the World Bank and other organizations to open financing for us," he said.
"For instance, as concerns energy projects, if Russian companies submit a bid and offer good prices, we will work with them. We will welcome any company from Russia. You also have good private companies, but we can also work with state-owned ones," Hariri said.
