ASE starts work on project to build phase 2 of Bushehr nuclear plant
VIENNA. Sept 19 (Interfax) - ASE Group, the engineering division of Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom, has begun work on the project to build two generating units at the Bushehr-2 Nuclear Power Plant, the company told Interfax, citing an announcement made by ASE Group president Valery Limarenko at the 61st general conference of the IAEA.
The group has begun preparing the whole area of the site for construction of new generating facilities and will begin excavating the foundation pit for Unit 2, he said.
Iran plans to increase the share of nuclear power generation with the second phase of Bushehr NPP, the head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, Ali Akbar Salehi said at the IAEA conference. This share will be increased with the construction of the second and third units of the plant, he said.
The general contractor for the project is Russia's Atomstroyexport (ASE).
