Baltic Fleet's advanced Bal missile systems used during Zapad-2017 exercise
KALININGRAD. Sept 19 (Interfax) - The Bal coastal missile systems of the Russian Baltic Fleet have destroyed a mock enemy's group of ships during the Zapad-2017 strategic exercise.
"Having received the target and instructions, the operating crews launched Bal anti-ship missiles against naval targets. Radio-technical devices, which control the launch areas, have confirmed the destruction of the targets," a Baltic Fleet spokesperson said on Tuesday.
The hostile group of ships was simulated by a special naval target, the spokesperson said.
"During the exercise, the crews also practiced testing the operating capability of the missile systems and propulsion units and propellant refilling, fitting missiles with warheads, as well as missile launcher loading and offloading procedures," the spokesperson said.
