CSTO to hold series of drills in Russia, Armenia, Kazakhstan in October

MOSCOW. Sept 21 (Interfax-AVN) - Three member countries of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) will host the Combat Brotherhood 2017 strategic exercise in October, the CSTO Secretariat said in a statement on Thursday.

"The exercise will include the Search 2017 drill of army reconnaissance units of CSTO member countries, the Interaction 2017 drill of the CSTO Collective Operative Response Force (CORF), and the Unbreakable Brotherhood 2017 drill of the CSTO Collective Peacekeeping Force. The drills will be held in Russia, Armenia, and Kazakhstan on October 3-20, 2017," the statement said.

"This is the first time these drills will be held under the umbrella of the Combat Brotherhood 2017 strategic exercise," the statement said.

"Servicemen will practice reconnaissance, joint containment of an armed conflict in the Caucasus collective security area, and an operation of the CSTO Collective Peacekeeping Force," it said.

This is a scheduled event for the operative and combat training of the commands and formations of the CSTO collective security network, the statement said.

The CSTO comprises Armenia, Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan.
