Ammunition depots explode in Donetsk region, no casualties reported yet - Ukrainian national poilce
KYIV. Sept 22 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian National Police and military prosecutors have launched an inquiry after ammunition warehouses near the village of Maloyanysol, Nikolske district, Donetsk region detonated at around 4.20 p.m. local time on Friday; there is no data on the dead and injured yet.
"Officers from the State Emergency Service have been sent to the scene. Police have encircled the dangerous area are guarding its safety. According to preliminary data, the fire broke out in a field. Currently, rescuers are tackling the blaze... Law enforcers have cordoned off the territory to prevent people from getting into the fire trap. There is no data about casualties at this point," a spokesperson for the Ukrainian national police in the Donetsk region said.
The information about the incident has been entered in the single register of citizens' complaints and reports of law violation and other events. An inquiry is under way, the police said.
Meanwhile the Ukrainian Defense Ministry said that the personnel from one of its military bases in the Donetsk region was being evacuated after munitions started exploding because of a burning field nearby.
"The personnel are being evacuated, measures are in place to contain the blaze," the ministry's spokesperson said.
