To finish off terrorists in Syria, Russian-U.S. coordination needed, U.S military prohibited from such coordination - Lavrov

NEW YORK. Sept 22 (Interfax) - Coordination between Russia and the United States is necessary for the efficient and complete destruction of terrorists in Syria; the U.S. military, however, are prohibited from interacting with Russia, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Friday.

"To finish off the terrorists effectively, one needs not just some de-conflicting, one needs coordination, but the U.S. military are prohibited from coordination by the law on Congress earmarks for the Pentagon directly, the ban on coordinating with Russia," Lavrov told a press conference on the results of the UN General Assembly.

"Why? Because that is the kind of lawmakers who care not about resolving conflicts in various parts of the world, not about developing relations with Russia that benefit the U.S. business, but about sending political signals," Lavrov said.

"And send that signal they did, we are still living with it," Lavrov said.
