Georgian PM Kvirikashvili briefs Merkel on situation in Georgia, relations between Tbilisi, Moscow

TBILISI. Sept 27 (Interfax) - Georgian President Giorgi Kvirikashvili met with German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Wednesday, the Georgian government's press service has reported.

"The parties underscored the dynamic development of German-Georgian relations. The prime minister informed Angela Merkel of reforms carried out by Georgia, its economic condition, and its cooperation with the European Union," it said.

The parties also discussed Georgian-Russian relations and the situation in Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

Kvirikashvili and Merkel touched upon Georgia's participation in the international military mission in Afghanistan.

Kvirikashvili is on an official visit to Germany.
