Humanitarian convoy dispatched to Syria's Deir ez-Zor on Wednesday for first time along strategic highways - Reconciliation Center

HMEIMIM (Syria). Sept 28 (Interfax) - A humanitarian convoy has been dispatched to Deir ez-Zor, the Russian Reconciliation Center of opposing sides in Syria said.

"The UN office in the city of Damascus and the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, the Syrian Foreign Ministry as part of a trilateral working group continue joint efforts. For the shortest period of time they have set up and sent a humanitarian convoy to liberated Deir ez-Zor on September 27. At the same time, the humanitarian supply has been first time delivered along strategic highways, that is, M3 [Homs-Palmyra] and M20 [Palmyra-Deir ez-Zor]," the center said on Thursday.

The process of laying arms down and of members of illegal armed units undergoing the procedure of normalization is ongoing in the de-escalation areas in Syria, it also said.

"As a result of joint efforts made by the Homs de-escalation area's national reconciliation committee and officers from the Reconciliation Center of opposing sides in the Deir-el-Fardis populated locality [Homs governorate] in the course of normalization the status of 12 members of the Ahrar-ash-Sham illegal armed group is settled," the center said.
