About 60 foreign planes, 12 ships seen on reconnaissance mission near Russian borders over week

MOSCOW. Sept 29 (Interfax-AVN) - Fifty-eight foreign planes were performing reconnaissance missions near the Russian border over the past week, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

In all, 12 foreign ships and 58 foreign aircraft were seen on reconnaissance missions near the Russian borders during the week, an info-graphic report posted on the website of the newspaper Krasnaya Zvezda on Friday said.

Air defense standby forces performed nine flights to intercept aerial targets, the ministry said.

Most reconnaissance missions were observed in the Western strategic sector (46); seven were seen in the Arctic, four in the East, and one in the South, the report said.
