Group of people involved in terror attacks exposed - DPR

DONETSK. Oct 2 (Interfax) - An agent network involved in the attack on Defense Minister of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) Alexander Timofeyev and other crimes has been uncovered, the DPR State Security Ministry said in a statement.

"An agent network whose members committed a number of high-profile crimes, including terrorist attacks on the territory of the LPR and the DPR on the orders of the Ukrainian Security Service and the Ukrainian Defense Ministry's Main Intelligence Department, was found and neutralized as a result of operational-search activities conducted by the DPR State Security Ministry," the ministry said in the statement on its website.

The DPR State Security Ministry exposed caches, secret apartments, channels of communication and of transferring special equipment for committing sabotage and terrorist attacks, as well as paths through which saboteurs and intelligence groups illegally entered the DPR, the statement said.

A source in the DPR State Security Ministry later gave the names of two detainees suspected of attempting to kill the republic's revenue and duties minister.

"The names of the two detainees who were involved in the blowing up of Alexander Timofeyev's car are Igor Viktorovich Yevtyushin and Denis Vyacheslavovich Derpishin. Neither is a resident of Donetsk. The men were recruited by the Ukrainian Defense Ministry's Main Intelligence Directorate," the source told the Donetsk News Agency.

According to earlier reports, two explosions took place in Donetsk on September 23. DPR authorities later reported an assassination attempt against the DPR Deputy Prime Minister, Finance Minister Alexander Timofeyev.
