Kyiv confirms Erdogan's Oct 9 visit

KYIV. Oct 6 (Interfax) - Ukrainian authorities have confirmed that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will visit Kyiv on Monday, October 9.

"President of the Turkish Republic Recep Tayyip Erdogan will pay an official visit to Ukraine on October 9, 2017. During his visit, the Turkish president will meet with President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and also attend a session of the Ukraine-Turkey High-Level Strategic Council co-chaired by the heads of state," the Ukrainian presidential website said on Friday.

During the contacts, the sides are expected to discuss ways to promote cooperation in all strategic areas. A number of bilateral documents are expected to be signed after the council's meeting.

The Turkish president's press service said on Thursday that Erdogan would visit Kyiv on October 9 to attend the sixth session of the two countries' High-Level Strategic Council.

During his visit, the Turkish president also plans to meet with Ukrainian Parliament Chairman Andriy Parubiy and Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman.

Erdogan's press service also said that different documents and protocols aimed at further promoting the strategic partnership between the two countries would be signed and issues concerning Crimean Tatars would be brought up.
