Donbas conflict sides trade attack accusations
DONETSK/LUHANSK/KYIV. Oct 6 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian Armed Forces have launched 48 attacks in the past 24 hours, the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) said.
"The Ukrainian Armed Forces have committed 48 ceasefire violations in the past 24 hours. They attacked districts of 18 populated localities of the republic using artillery, tanks, mortars, armored personnel carriers, infantry fighting vehicles, grenade launchers, and small arms against them," a DPR operational command spokesman told reporters.
A house in the village of Yasne near Dokuchayevsk was damaged in one of these strikes.
The self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR), for its part, has accused the Ukrainian Armed Forces of launching 12 attacks on its territory in the past 24 hours.
"The Ukrainian armed forces have breached the ceasefire 12 times in the past 24 hours, using 120mm and 82mm mortars, AGS automatic grenade launchers, RPG hand-held antitank grenade launchers, infantry fighting vehicles, and small arms," a LPR militia spokesman told Interfax on Friday.
The Ukrainian army shelled districts of Slovianoserbsk, Krasnyi Lyman, Kalynove, Zhelte, Vesela Hora, Kruta Hora, Kalynivka, and Frunze, the LPR militia said.
"No damage was done to buildings, and no civilian or military casualties were reported," the militia said.
Kyiv has accused militia forces of committing 24 violations in the past 24 hours. The press service of the headquarters of Kyiv's military operation in south-eastern Ukraine said that the Ukrainian army had returned fire during 17 attacks staged by the militia and had used weapons not prohibited by the Minsk Accords. No Ukrainian servicemen were hurt in the clashes.
In the Donetsk sector, militia forces twice used large-caliber machineguns and grenade launchers against Ukrainian positions in the vicinity of Mayorsk, Avdiivka, Opytne, and the Butovka mine, the headquarters' press service said.
In the Luhansk sector, the militia fired 82mm mortars on Ukrainian army positions in Lobacheve and used anti-tank grenade launchers and small arms against Ukrainian positions near Stanytsia Luhanska, Valuiske and Krymske, it said.
In the Mariupol sector, militia forces fired grenade launchers and large-caliber machineguns on Ukrainian military positions in the vicinity of Shyrokyne, Pavlopil, and Vodyane, and used grenade launchers, large-caliber machineguns, and infantry fighting vehicle weapons near Berezove, the press service said.
