Armenia expects to receive part of equipment to modernize NPP by year-end

YEREVAN. Oct 6 (Interfax) - Armenia is expecting to receive a turbo-generator and the main transformer, necessary for the modernization of power unit No. 2 at the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant (NPP).

The Armenian Energy Ministry's press service said that the fifth Armenian-Russian coordination committee was held in Yerevan as part of work to prolong the life cycle and modernize the second power unit at the Armenian NPP.

The commission, with the participation of Energy Infrastructure and Natural Resources Minister Ashot Manukyan and Rosatom Deputy CEO Kirill Komarov, discussed actions planned for 2018, and in particular, the delivery schedule for equipment.

Russian specialists estimate that next year contractor companies will involve over 600 workers to carry out works at the NPP.

Deliveries of core equipment for the modernization of the turbine hall of the second power unit will start at the end of 2017.
