Karabakh mediators complicating conflict settlement - Azerbaijani parliamentarian
BAKU. Oct 6 (Interfax) - The OSCE Minsk Group is complicating the process of settling the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, First Deputy Chairman of the Milli Majlis (parliament) Ziyafet Asgarov said.
"The OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs are themselves complicating the settlement of the Karabakh issue. There are no difficulties in its settlement," Asgarov said in an interview with the Azerbaijan Press Agency (APA).
He regretted that the Nagorno-Karabakh mediators are acting inefficiently. "Despite the fact that the OSCE Minsk Group is the only organization mediating the conflict settlement efforts, unfortunately, its activities still remain inefficient. The president of Azerbaijan has also stressed this. They only make visits to the region. No results," he said.
The OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs should "find the courage and say unambiguously that Armenia is an invader and Azerbaijan is a victim of invasion."
Instead of this, the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs have been making controversial statements, Asgarov said. "They have described the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict as a very complicated one, whose settlement takes time and so on. But this is not so. If a timely end had been put to separatism in Nagorno-Karabakh, there would not have been such pressing issues as Kurdistan in Northern Iraq and Catalonia in Spain today," he said.
Europe itself has fallen victim of its wrong policy, he said.
