Russia to create necessary conditions for possible inter-parliamentary contacts between two Koreas - Matviyenko

MOSCOW. Oct 11 (Interfax) - The 137th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) assembly in St. Petersburg will provide all conditions for negotiation between the delegations from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and the Republic of Korea, Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko said.

"National delegations from the South Korean and North Korean parliaments will attend the 137th assembly. We would very much like them to sit down at the negotiating table, to start dialogue," Matviyenko told Rossiya-24 (VGTRK) television channel.

"For now there is no such certainty," she said.

"This will depend, obviously, on what instructions they'll receive from their national leaders, but at least - should they be interested - we will create all conditions for talks and meetings between the parliamentarians from the two Koreas," the Federation Council speaker said.
