PM: Russia-Luxembourg cooperation in digital economy, IT, space promising - PM

SKOLKOVO. Oct 17 (Interfax) - Russia and Luxembourg will develop cooperation in new fields such as space and the digital economy, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said.

"We agreed that as part of the intergovernmental commission which is currently functioning, we will think about where we can boost cooperation," Medvedev told journalists following talks with Luxembourger President Xavier Bettel.

Medvedev said that the countries could cooperate in the digital economy, IT and space. "This is a new niche. Our countries have great opportunities to make our contributions. We have agreed that we will prepare a proposal for specific areas of cooperation in these fields, we will find research groups that are working on them and draw up a detailed road map," Medvedev said.

He said that the countries are currently cooperating in trade and finance, adding that trade turnover between Russia and Luxembourg is rising despite "complicated economic conditions."

Bettel said that Russia-Luxembourg cooperation is developing dynamically in various areas: investment, aviation and freight haulage.

"We hope that we will prepare the set of measures and documents that we can sign and that will usher in a new level of our cooperation before next year's summer holidays," Bettel said.
