Putin congratulates Atambayev on successfully conducted Kyrgyz election
MOSCOW/BISHKEK. Oct 19 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin and Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev have had a telephone conversation, the Russian presidential press service reported.
"Putin congratulated Atambayev on successfully holding presidential elections in Kyrgyzstan on October 15," the press service said.
The parties also discussed interaction within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and the continued development of Russian-Kyrgyz cooperation, it said.
The Kyrgyz presidential press service told Interfax on Thursday that Atambayev and Putin had discussed interaction within the EAEU.
"In the course of a telephone conversation on Thursday, the heads of state discussed relevant aspects of Kyrgyz-Russian relations. The parties also discussed further economic interaction among EAEU countries," the press service said.
Atambayev thanked Putin for his assistance and support in the implementation of important socio-economic projects in Kyrgyzstan.
