MOSCOW. Oct 20 (Interfax) - Fifteen citizens of Russia, women and their young children, have been found in Syria and taken to the territory controlled by the Syrian authorities, head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov said.

"My representative in the countries of the Middle East and Northern Africa, Ziyad Sabsabi, found 15 citizens of Russia in Syria's conflict zones on Thursday evening and took them aboard the Russian Aerospace Forces' warplane to the territory controlled by the Syrian authorities," Kadyrov said on Instagram.

Kadyrov thanked Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and Russian General Staff chief Valery Gerasimov for their support in resolving this issue.

There is a Chechen woman and her four sons, aged between one and seven, among those rescued, he said.

"Three Dagestani women and their seven children were also taken to a safe place," Kadyrov said.
