Moscow not sure U.S. realizes necessity of convening Joint Commission under Iran deal - Ryabkov
MOSCOW. Oct 21 (Interfax) - Moscow is not sure that the United States has realized the necessity of convening the Joint Commission under the Iran nuclear deal, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said.
"I am not fully sure that our American partners have decided for themselves when the Joint Commission should be convened and what subject and what issues it should address," Ryabkov told journalists on Saturday.
"Before we resume the work of this mechanism embedded in the JCPOA [the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action on the Iranian nuclear program], we should find where we stand on the primary issues. How much the things that happened mean the U.S.' refusal to work practically within the JCPOA framework is surely among these issues," he said.
"The Joint Commission is to be convened on the agenda, and I think some time has to pass during which the participants will be analyzing and weighing the effects of the U.S. president's announcement regarding the JCPOA," he said.
