Local elections yet another victory for Georgian democracy - Georgian premier

TBILISI. Oct 21 (Interfax) - Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili has congratulated voters for having supported the ruling party after the findings were revealed of an exit poll conducted during today's local government elections.

"I want to thank everyone for their trust. We are well aware that this is a big responsibility. And I want to reassure [you] that each one of us will justify this trust," Kvirikashvili said during a special briefing on Saturday evening.

He thanked international and local observers for their work.

"These elections are yet another victory for Georgian democracy," the prime minister said.

The Central Election Commission is to publish the election results over the next few hours, but the ruling party Georgian Dream is already celebrating its candidates' victories.
