MOSCOW. Oct 23 (Interfax) - The Russian Ambassador to Pyongyang, Alexander Matsegora, has discussed bilateral relations with the new Director of the North Korean Foreign Ministry's First European Department, Rim Chong Il.

"We have had a substantive conversation on the current state of Russia-Korea relations and mapped out areas of future joint work in today's complex circumstances," the Russian embassy in North Korea said on the social network Vkontakte.

Matsegora congratulated Rim on his promotion and wished him success.

"Rim Chong Il is our long-standing comrade and colleague; he has been the acting head of the North Korean Foreign Ministry's territorial department overseeing relations with Russia before. His latest position was as the North Korean consul general in Vladivostok," the embassy said.
