Crew not at risk after ISS U.S. segment reports freon leak

MOSCOW/WASHINGTON. Oct 25 (Interfax) - An accident involving a freon leak has occurred at the United States segment of the International Space Station (ISS), an informed source told Interfax.

"The U.S. segment has registered a leak of 143 grams of freon. Earlier an ammonia leak was registered. This suggests systemic problems in the operation of the station's U.S. segment," the source said.

Meanwhile, Roscosmos told Interfax that the crew was not in danger. "The leak poses no threat to the crew's safety," the state corporation said, adding that it hoped its U.S. colleagues would promptly sort out the problem.
