U.S. not letting humanitarian organizations into al-Rukban refugee camp from Syrian territory - Russian Defense Ministry
HMEIMIM, Syria. Oct 25 (Interfax-AVN) - The United States' military has not allowed humanitarian organizations' representatives into the al-Rukban refugee camp on the Syrian-Jordanian border, Lieut. Gen. Sergei Kuralenko, head of the Russian center for reconciliation of opposing sides, said.
"Currently, the command of the U.S. Armed Forces' group in Al-Tanf has not provided representatives from humanitarian organizations access to the Al-Rukban refugee camp from Syria," Kuralenko said during a briefing on Wednesday.
"The U.S. side and the illegal armed formations in that area are preventing the Syrian government from organizing safe passage and humanitarian aid deliveries from Syrian territory for people inside the camp," Kuralenko said.
The humanitarian situation in the camp is getting worse, the center said. "The spread of drugs, agitation, and the recruitment of people into terrorist organizations are continuing here," Kuralenko said.
