Two shoot at Stavropol policemen, one gunman killed - regional police
STAVROPOL. Oct 25 (Interfax) - Policemen in the town of Yessentuki in the Stavropol Territory have been injured in the line of duty, and one of the assailants has been shot dead, the regional police press service said.
A police patrol stopped two men who then opened fire at the officers, the spokesperson said.
"The officers of the agencies of internal affairs responded by employing standard-issue weapons, eliminating one of the assailants. The second one managed to escape," the press service said.
Two policemen were injured during the skirmish and hospitalized, it said.
"Currently, measures are in place to find and apprehend the culprit who escaped. The city's police have been put on alert," the press service said.
A team of investigators led by the Stavropol Territory police chief is working at the scene.
