Russia creating naval base on Kurils - Klintsevich

MOSCOW. Oct 26 (Interfax) - Russia has decided to set up a naval base on the Kuril Islands, Frants Klintsevich, the first deputy chairman of the Federation Council Defense and Security Committee, said.

"The decision has been made. It is in the stage of implementation," Klintsevich told Interfax.

At the moment, the focus is on "organizational matters," he said.
