Russian servicemen escort 2 UN humanitarian convoys in Syria in past 24 hours
MOSCOW. Oct 26 (Interfax) - The Russian center for reconciliation of opposing sides in Syria has conducted one humanitarian operation and escorted two UN convoys in the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.
"The center for reconciliation of opposing sides in Syria conducted a humanitarian operation in the town of Darwasha in the Damascus province in the course of the day; 3.6 tonnes of food were distributed among the civilian population," the statement said.
In addition, the center escorted two UN humanitarian convoys.
"Food and household supplies were delivered to Tell Gehab and al-Jiza in the Daraa province; the total weight of the cargo was 147 tonnes," the statement said.
Meanwhile, Russian medics provided aid to 206 Syrians. Nearly 62,000 Syrians have been assisted by Russian medics since the beginning of the campaign.
