Kazakh ArcelorMittal Temirtau to open new pipe-welding facility

KARAGANDA. Oct 26 (Interfax) - ArcelorMittal Temirtau plans to put into operation a new pipe-welding facility in December 2017 on the premises of ArcelorMittal Tubular Products Aktau, ArcelorMittal Temirtau said in a statement.

This is a joint project of ArcelorMittal Tubular Products Aktau and KazTurboRemont and is part of Tengizchevroil's future expansion and wellhead pressure-control projects.

The new shop will produce 24-meter twin-pipe sections. The design capacity of the shop will be 300 kilometers of pipes a year, according to the statement.

Start-up and adjustment work is now underway. The project will create 150 jobs.

ArcelorMittal Tubular Products Aktau is part of Arcelor Mittal's pipe department, which is comprised of 24 factories in 12 countries.

ArcelorMittal Temirtau, a major mining company in Kazakhstan, is part of ArcelorMittal, a global steel and mining company. ArcelorMittal Temirtau owns eight coalmines in the Karaganda region and four metal-ore mines in the Karaganda, Akmola, and Kostanai regions.
